Media Day Press Conference
Today saw the annual Somerset CCC pre-season media day take place.
As well as all the usual team photos, interviews and content creation, Director of Cricket Andy Hurry, Head Coach Jason Kerr and Captain Lewis Gregory faced the media at a press conference in the 1875 Club.
The trio then answered a variety of questions from the floor.
Lewis was asked what it meant to him being appointed as captain.
“It’s a huge honour to captain Somerset,” he said. “It’s something I’m really excited about. There are some seriously talented cricketers in the squad and it’s about trying to get them into the place where you see the best of them.”
Asked about what we can expect in 2024, Andy said: “The T20 success last year really galvanized the group and there’s a real hunger for success and desire to keep pushing on across other formats of the game as well. We are really excited about the progress and the growth the players have made during the close season and out in Sri Lanka and Abu Dhabi.”
Jason added: “We’ve got an unbelievable squad and they’ve got another years experience. You can’t underestimate how powerful it is to win a trophy.”
