Match Preview: Captains Clash T20 for MND

THE MATCH

Some of the biggest names from the worlds of cricket and rugby will come together at the Cooper Associates County Ground tomorrow (Wednesday August 19th) for the Captains Clash T20 for MND.

The star-studded charity fixture will see Somerset Captain Lewis Gregory XI take on England Captain Jamie George XI in a unique T20 contest, in support of the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Gates will open at 2:30pm.

Entry to the Cooper Associates County Ground will be via the Jack White Gates (St James Street) and the Viv Richards Gates (Priory Bridge Road) only.

Play will begin at 3:45pm.

VISITING GUIDE

Bag searches will be in operation which may increase the time it takes you to enter the venue.

Spectators are reminded that no glass or sharp implements will be permitted within the Cooper Associates County Ground.

CATERING

Food and drink will be available from Stragglers, The Lord Botham Bar, The Great Catch Fish & Chip Bar, Joels and the Marcus Trescothick Upper Concession.

TEAM NEWS

Lewis Gregory will be joined by Somerset team mates Jack Leach and Jake Ball. The team also includes Rugby stars Elliot Daly and Max Malins plus former Premier League footballer Dean Saunders.

England Rugby Captain, Jamie George will skipper the opposition and he will be joined by Ben Earl, Owen Farrell and Alfie Barbeary. The team will also feature Somerset’s Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Tom Abell, James Rew and Migael Pretorius.

This match is helping to raise funds for the MND Association.

Every day The MND Association support people with motor neurone disease, campaign for better care and fund ground-breaking research. Because with MND, every day matters.

The MND Association are a membership organisation with over 13,000 members forming a powerful national and local network that provides information and support.

They have over 1,300 active volunteers in England, Wales and Northern Ireland and around 300 paid staff, all dedicated to improving the lives of people affected by MND, now and in the future.

THE WOLLENS O-ZONE CHALLENGE!

Somerset County Cricket Club have teamed up with Wollens Solicitors to help raise money for Children’s Hospice South West in 2026.

If any player hits the ball through the “O” of the Wollens advertising board at the Cooper Associates County Ground this year, Wollens will donate £1 for every run that is scored in that innings!
