Marcus named as second Legends Wall inductee
Somerset Members and supporters were recently given the opportunity to have their input on who should appear on our new Legends Wall feature.
We announced that Sir Viv Richards would be the very first player to adorn the new and exciting development and today we are delighted to be able to reveal that he will be joined by Marcus Trescothick.
Marcus made his Somerset debut in 1993 and remained a one-club player until his retirement in 2019.
During his remarkable career with Somerset Marcus played in 296 First Class matches, scoring 19654 runs at an average of 41.11 with a best of 284. He scored 52 First Class hundreds, which is more than any other player in the history of the Club.
He also featured 236 List A matches, scoring 7374 runs at an average of 36.87 with a highest score of 184.
His 86 T20 matches brought him 2197 runs with a best of 108 not out.
He was part of the Somerset teams who won the C&G Trophy in 2001 and the Twenty20 Cup in 2005, and will go down in history as one of the finest batters every to represent the Club.
What is Legends Wall?
As part of the buildup for our imminent 150th year celebrations, our current Hall of Fame feature is set to be re-imagined as Legends Wall in order to create a more befitting memorial to our greatest ever players.
Our new and improved Legends Wall will be launched at an exclusive event on Thursday April 18th..
