Long-standing partnership with King’s College extended

Somerset County Cricket Club are delighted to be able to reveal that partnership with King’s College is set to continue.

This long-standing and mutually beneficial relationship will preserve the excellent links that the two organisations have forged over the years.

One of the region’s most highly regarded education providers, King’s College is also a designated Centre of Cricketing Excellence and has produced a number of Somerset players over the years including Jos Buttler, Eddie Byrom, Alex Barrow, Craig Meschede, James Regan, Nathan Gilchrist, Tom Banton, Will Smeed, James Rew, George Thomas and Erin Vukusic.

As part of the agreement, 2025 will see King’s sponsor Somerset Women all rounder and Croatia International, Erin Vukusic in addition to Somerset Men’s Tom Banton and James Rew, all of whom are former students.

Somerset CCC Commercial Director, Caroline Herbert is pleased that this relationship will continue. “Our two organisations share a passion for identifying and developing young sportsmen and women throughout the region and everyone associated with the Club is delighted that we will be working together again in 2025.

“We are pleased that they have extended their agreement to incorporate the first ever professional Somerset Women’s team, and we look forward to them playing as important a role within the development of players for the women’s games as they have within the men’s game.”

Michael Sloan, Executive Headmaster at King’s College said: “We are thrilled to be extending our partnership with Somerset County Cricket Club and are especially excited to expand our involvement in the women’s game.

“Girls’ cricket at King’s continues to flourish, and we are incredibly proud to have recently supported Erin Vukusic in achieving her dream of playing professional cricket. With arguably the most successful track record of producing professional cricketers in recent years, we remain committed not only to developing talent within our own ranks but also to growing the game at the grassroots level.

“Through this partnership, as well as our work with the MCC Hub and local state schools, we are proud to be making a lasting impact on cricket across the county.”
