
Lewis and Wello the Big Winners at End of Season Dinner
Lewis Gregory won two awards whilst Amanda Jade Wellington claimed three at the annual SCCC End of Season Awards.
In addition to lifting the Vitality Blast trophy last month, Lewis was presented with the Men’s Player of the Season and Men’s Supporters’ Player of the Year awards.
Overseas star Wellington claimed the Women’s Player of the season, Women’s Supporters’ Player of the Year and Women’s List A Player of the Year.
The host for the evening, Peter Trego, welcomed both teams into the County Room before the evening was officially opened by SCCC Chair, Sir Michael Barber.
Director of Cricket, Andy Hurry looked back on the 2024 season and officially said goodbye to Ben Green, Josh Davey, Kasey Aldridge, Sean Dickson, Andy Umeed, Laura Jackson and Amelie Munday, who will leave the Club this winter.
The Somerset DOC then presented County Caps to Tom Lammonby, James Rew and Tom Banton.
The first awards of the evening, the President’s Champagne moments, which were selected by Somerset CCC President Sir Peter Wanless, went to Sean Dickson for hitting the winning runs in the Vitality Blast quarter-final against Bears and Fran Wilson for securing victory over Surrey at Beckenham.
Steven Hendry from Cairnhill then presented the Community Players of the Year trophies plus £500 Michael Spiers vouchers to Mollie Robbins and Alfie Ogborne.
The Tom Pearce Award for Men’s Young Player of the Year went to Thomas Rew and he was presented with the award by Boys Academy Lead Coach, Alex Barrow and Lloyd Alley from Kukri Sports.
The Women’s Young Player of the Year award was announced by Girl’s Academy Coach, Jack Bradbury and was presented to Olivia Barnes by Alex Robert from Vertu.
Sam Forsyth from Green Thumb then presented the Supporters’ Player of the Year awards to Lewis Gregory and Fran Wilson, who collected the trophy on behalf of the absent Amanda Jade Wellington.
The award for Men’s White-Ball Player of the Year went to Will Smeed and was presented Matthew Wright from Trade Nation.
The Women’s List A Player of the Year was accepted by Chloe Skelton on Wellington’s behalf from Tom Baldock of Synertec
The Championship Player of the Year trophy was won by James Rew and he received the trophy from Joe Roberts of WPA Health Insurance, whilst the Women’s T20 Player of the Year was presented to Mollie Robbins by Andrew Cowlin of Mouldex.

Somerset CEO, Jamie Cox then presented the Hollins Award: Recognising Great Partnerships. The winners were the partnership of Wellington and Wilson against Surrey in Somerset Women’s opening victory of the season, plus Will Smeed and Sean Dickson for their partnership against Hampshire Hawks in the Men’s Vitality Blast final.
The coveted Player of the Season trophies went to Gregory and Wellington.
Ahead of Trevor Griffin announcing the Women’s winner, he was presented with a memento of the Club’s appreciation for his service ahead of his departure. Alex Griffiths collected the award from SCCC Vice Chair, Richard Brice.
Jason Kerr then announced the Men’s winner, with Gregory presented with the cup by Matthew Hartigan of Brown & Brown.
Jamie Cox officially closed the awards ceremony, and those in attendance made their way to the Long Room to dance the night away courtesy of live music from The Haus Band.
