Latest from the Pathway
There have been runs aplenty from the Somerset Pathway teams who have played in the last week, with the three highest innings being an unbeaten 167 by Seb Linnitt, Oscar Coleman’s 158 not out and 140 from Bertie Michael, all coming in the same match.
Wickets have been harder to come by but two bowlers enjoyed four wicket hauls. Connie Osborn claimed four for 14 while Isobel Glyn-Jones took four for 31.
The three centurions scored their runs in the Somerset Under 18s Boys three-day game against Northamptonshire at Desborough which ended in a victory for the visitors.
After being asked to bat first, the home side posted 367 for nine from 76 overs, Ben Sleeman taking three for 45. In reply, Somerset made 313 all out of which Oscar Coleman made an unbeaten 158 off 161 balls with 27 fours and two sixes.
Batting for a second time ,Northants scored 350 for seven. Oscar Coleman taking two for 25 while Muhammad Kaleem claimed two for 78.
Chasing 404 for victory Somerset reached 408 for three thanks to a third wicket partnership of 256 between Bertie Michael (140 off 190 balls with 22 fours) and Seb Linnitt (167 not out off 169 deliveries with 29 fours and two sixes).
Somerset Girls Under 18s played two T20 matches against Wales.
In the first match, Wales batted first and scored 96 for seven off their overs. Connie Osborn took four for 14. In reply Somerset reached 87 for seven, Genevieve Donaldson top scoring with 23.
In the second game Somerset batted first and posted 119 for four,.Katie Rowe made an unbeaten 50 off 60 balls and added 65 for the first wicket with Brooke Whittaker who made 32.
In reply, Wales scored 109 for six, Connie Osborn ending with two for 26.
The Girls Under 18s hosted their Nottinghamshire counterparts at The Parks in Bridgwater in the quarter final of the ECB T20 Cup. After choosing to bat, Somerset posted 156 for four of which Leila Moledina made 35 and Lucy Hawker scored 50 off 39 balls with eight fours and one six, the pair adding 100 for the second wicket.
In reply Notts reached 136 for eight, Verity Clark claiming two for 20 and Lola Harris two for 23.
The Under 13 Girls played two T20 matches against Gloucestershire.
In the first game, Somerset batted first and scored 119 for four, Emma Mason making 54 off 41 balls with eight fours, while Emily Dummett was not out 22. In reply Gloucestershire reached 110 for seven from their 20 overs.
In the second game, Gloucestershire batted first and posted 124 for eight, Isobel Glyn-Jones claiming four for 31. In reply, Somerset made 125 for five in 16.2 overs, Clemmie Lyon-Taylor making 29 and Daisie Frost an unbeaten 34, the pair adding 56 for the fifth wicket.
