Latest from the Pathway
Over the course of the last few weeks, Bea Willis, Lola Harris, Liv Barnes and Laila Moledina have been involved in the ECB Women’s Super 4s.
The ECB Super 4s is the last step for those seeking England Girls Under 19 selection and is preceded by a round between two teams from the South and the same from the North from which the best players went on to Super 4s.
In addition to the three ECB teams, the Ireland Under 19 girls were also taking part.
The performances from the Super 4s will then lead to the selection of the England Under 19 winter squad that culminates in a tour to Australia in March.
Jack Bradbury, the Girls Academy Lead at Somerset CCC said: “The four girls all gave a good account of themselves. Laila scored 141 runs from her four matches at an average of 70.50, while Liv Barnes hit a rapid unbeaten 25 from 17 balls which included four 4s to win one match.
“Two Somerset players topped the bowling. Liv Barnes took seven wickets at 18s, while Bea Willis claimed seven at 20, and Lola took six wickets at 15s, and all finished in the top 10.
“For the four to get there in the first place is a really great achievement but then for them to have such a big impact on the games over the whole week is really exciting.”
Elsewhere, the Somerset Boys Under 18s hosted Lancashire in the final of the ECB T20 Cup at Taunton Vale recently.
Batting first, Lancashire had reached 88 for one after 10.4 overs when the rain started to fall and the game was eventually abandoned.
The Under 18 T20 Cup will be shared between Somerset and Lancashire.
