Introducing the 2025 Live Stream Commentary Team

In association with Vertu and WPA Health Insurance, we are pleased to be able to announce our 2025 live stream commentary team.

Originally piloted in July 2017, our award-winning live stream match coverage has gone from strength to strength.

Now a vital element of our matchday experience for those in attendance at the Cooper Associates County Ground as well as for those watching at home or on the move, we are pleased to see the return of some commentary box favourites and the addition of some new voices!

The 2025 live stream team will once again provide unique insight into all the action as it plays out on the field of play.

The 2025 line up features:

Vic Marks

Vic made his Somerset debut at the age of 20 in 1975 and represented the County with distinction until his retirement at the end of 1989.

In his 275 First Class matches for Somerset he claimed 738 wickets with career best figures of eight for 17 against Lancashire at Bath in 1985. He also scored almost 10,000 runs at an average of 30.53.

A vital member of Somerset’s “Glory Years” teams of the late 70s and early 80s, Vic went on to captain the County for the last part of the 1988 season and also for 1989 before retiring and becoming one of the world’s most respected journalists and broadcasters.

Peter Trego

Peter is Somerset’s second highest ever run scorer in T20 cricket, whilst he has 50 wickets in the format for the County. He is also third in the Club’s all-time list of century makers in List A cricket.

Peter returned to the Club in an ambassadorial role in 2022 and his new role has seen the popular former all-rounder undertaking presenting and commentary duties, hosting Club events, visiting hospitality guests, and much more!

Stephen Lamb

Stephen is an extremely experienced journalist and broadcaster who has covered Somerset over many years for the BBC.

He first covered Somerset in 1985, and was at Taunton when Sir Viv Richards made his career-best 322 and interviewed him afterwards. He was also present and commentated on Alfonso Thomas’s four in four in 2014, and on the Royal London Cup Final victory in 2019.

Sam Dalling

Respected national journalist Sam grew up a Junior Sabre. Now based in London, Sam writes for a variety of cricket and football publications including The Guardian, The Times, The Telegraph, The Cricketer, The Cricket Paper any many others!

Sam has been a key member of the SCCC commentary team over the last couple of years.

Charlie Taylor

Charlie started covering Somerset CCC for the BBC in 2014.

He was the first person to hold the ECB Broadcaster of the Year and ECB Young Journalist of the Year titles simultaneously.

His coverage of Somerset has also seen him awarded a gold BBC Local Radio award and a silver British Sports Journalism Award.

Sophie Luff

Sophie is the captain of the first ever professional Somerset Women’s team.

She has an extensive knowledge of the game, having previously captained Western Storm and played for the team from their inception in 2016. She was the first player to make 100 appearances for Storm.

An award-winning coach, Sophie has been an important element of our commentary team since 2022.

Harry Everett

Freelance broadcaster and journalist Harry is no stranger to Somerset supporters having played an important role in our live stream success to date. Harry has covered cricket for BBC Sport and Deep Extra Cover amongst others, and also brings an excellent knowledge of local Club cricket in the South West to the airwaves.

Claire Jenkins

Claire played 14 years of county cricket starting with “The West” – which later became Somerset – and finishing with Derbyshire. She was a specialist point fielder and top order batter.

She spent one summer working with the New Zealand White Ferns and subsequently match managed a Women’s Ashes Test for the ECB, as well as a Pakistan v Ireland women’s series on behalf of the ICC. She has played many roles in the sport and was even a PA announcer during the 1993 Women’s World Cup warm up game for the West & Midlands v the West Indies.

In 2020 she added livestream and radio commentator to this list. Working for Western Storm and a number of other women’s regional teams.

Nicole Harvey

Nicole Harvey joins the team having had a distinguished career playing for Western Storm, Welsh Fire, Somerset and Nottinghamshire.

She played for Somerset for a decade and in 2024 the all rounder finished the year as the all-time leading wicket taker in Women’s County Championship history.

In 2024, Nicole got the opportunity to commentate for the BBC and her first match was the Somerset v Surrey fixture at Taunton, possibly the match of the season.

Ed Seabourne

Ed has been broadcasting cricket across live streams and for the BBC in a permanent capacity since 2020, being an ever-present on Western Storm’s coverage from its foundation in the regional setup.

He was awarded ECB Broadcaster of the Year in 2023.

 

This regular line up will be supported throughout the year by guest commentators and appearances by Somerset players and coaches.

 

VERTU IN-GROUND RADIOS

Somerset County Cricket Club, in Association with Vertu, introduced radio ear pieces in 2023 to give people the opportunity to listen to our award-winning ball-by-ball live stream commentary from their seats in the stands and pavilions.

The commentary is perfectly synced to compliment the on- field action, giving the listener an immersive and comprehensive live matchday experience.

The radios will be available to purchase again this summer and are designed to last all season with only a small battery needing to be replaced on occasion.
