Harris Fowler Injury Update

Working alongside Harris Fowler, The Personal Injury and Medical Negligence Specialists, we will be bringing our Members and supporters a monthly injury update.

Sean Dickson

Sean suffered a fractured finger when he was struck on the hand during Somerset’s first innings against Surrey at the Kia Oval earlier this season.

He has been progressing his rehab programme over the past few weeks and will be available for selection again soon.

Jake Ball

Jake suffered an abdominal muscle injury while playing on loan for Kent. He is currently back rehabilitating with the SCCC medical staff.

He is estimated to return to cricket towards the end of the month.

Heather Knight

An MRI scan has revealed that Heather Knight has suffered a significant tendon injury to her right hamstring and will be ruled out of home international cricket and The Hundred in 2025.

She will now undergo further assessment with the England Women’s medical team to determine the next steps of her management.

Although no return date can be set at this stage, it is hoped Heather will be available for selection for the ICC Women’s World Cup in September 2025.

Dani Gibson

Dani Gibson is continuing her rehabilitation with ECB and Somerset medical teams after returning from England’s A tour of Australia in March due to a stress fracture in her back.

Olivia Barnes

Olivia suffered an injury to the webbing of her left hand during the Essex T20 match whilst fielding.

The injury will mean a period on the sideline for Olivia whilst this has the adequate time to heal.

Niamh Holland

Niamh continues her  recovery and is progressing positively. She was included in the squads for the recent Vitality Blast clashes against Surrey and Essex as a batter and is continuing to build her bowling load.

Amelie Munday

Amelie is continuing to recover from shin splints and made her Somerset debut against Surrey at the Cooper Associates County Ground last Friday. She continues to work towards a return to bowling.

At Harris Fowler, we understand the importance of early specialist rehabilitation for injured people, to maximise the prospects of the quickest and best possible recovery. In the same way that the specialist rehabilitation team at Somerset Cricket Club, seeks to get their injured cricketers back to full fitness , and available for selection as quickly as possible, at Harris Fowler we meet the needs of injured people by providing access to rehabilitation services for our clients at an early stage , so that they can hopefully return to work as quickly as  possible, improve their quality of life, and regain their independence.

Rehabilitation can take many forms. It can involve  medical treatment for physical and psychological injuries such as specialist physiotherapy, and therapy. It can also involve services such as  the provision of orthotics ( medical aids such as splints ) , prosthetics ( artificial limbs) , a professional care plan, and adaptions to the home. In serious injury cases, a professional case manager may need to be appointed to  co-ordinate, implement, and monitor  the options and rehabilitation services available to meet the seriously injured persons` needs.

Once rehabilitation has taken place , then compensation can be agreed or awarded for, the physical and psychological injury, taking into account a number of factors including the extent of the recovery and the prognosis, and any consequential losses the injured person has incurred or will incur in the future, such as loss of earnings , private medical treatment,  and the provision of care. The aim of compensation is to put the injured person back, as far as possible, to the position they would have been but for the injury.

At Harris Fowler we act for injured people who have been involved in many different types of accident , the most common being accidents at work, road traffic accidents , and medical negligence. We act on a “ No Win  No Fee “ basis so injured people can seek access to rehabilitation services and compensation with, no risk or upfront cost to them. If you are an injured person who has been involved in an accident please contact Harris Fowler on 0800 213 214 or email at enquiries@harrisfowler.co.uk
