First Section of Legends Wall Unveiled
The first section of our new and improved Legends Wall was unveiled at a special event this evening.
The unveiling was attended by those who bought the first batch of plaques, and also by two of the legends who appear on the feature: Marcus Trescothick and Anya Shrubsole.
Following the unveiling Marcus said: “It was really nice to see everyone’s reaction to the wall and see everyone reading their plaques. That’s what’s made tonight so special. It will be exciting to see Legends Wall progress and to see all the names eventually go up. It’s important to recognise the players who have impacted people’s lives during their time at the Club. As players, we take cricket for granted but it’s special to know that you have made an impression with the Members and supporters.”
Anya added: “I played all my cricket here from the age of about 11 and Somerset played a big part in me getting to where I got to in my career. Being one of the first five amongst four incredible players is a real honour. Hopefully, this will inspire some young girls to take up the game or push a bit harder.”
