EGM UPDATE

An Extraordinary General Meeting of Somerset County Cricket Club was due to take place at 6pm on September 14th. The purpose of the EGM was to appoint the new Chair of Somerset County Cricket Club for an initial three-year term.

Regrettably, we have found the need to cancel the election and the EGM as, unbeknownst to the Board at the time of calling the EGM, it is being conducted without full disclosure of circumstances and in contravention of Club rules.

More specifically, the Board-endorsed candidate has not been a Member of the Club for the requisite 2 calendar years prior to commencement of his term in office, which therefore makes him ineligible to stand under the current rules.

Our commitment is to Gold Standard governance, and we therefore feel it is important to get the process correct, with full transparency and in accordance with the rules.

For clarity, we will need to nullify all votes in this election for the reasons presented above.

This will be discussed at the upcoming Board meeting, and we will provide an update shortly afterwards.

The Club would like to thank all of those who have taken an interest in the process to this point and we apologise for the inconvenience this has caused.

Richard Brice

Interim Chair
