Charity Shirt Auction

Somerset supporters have the opportunity to bid for a piece of cricketing history as part of a charity auction being run in memory of Barnaby Webber and Grace O’Malley-Kumar.

Barnaby and Grace lost their lives last June when walking home from a night out in Nottingham, and their families have since each established charitable foundations in their honour.

The Barnaby Webber Foundation and the Grace O’Malley-Kumar Foundation have a particular focus on supporting young people facing life challenges, with the aim of ensuring no child ever feels lonely or overwhelmed.

Grace, who played for Essex’s age group teams, and Barnaby, who attended Taunton School, were both keen cricketers, and their respective foundations will support grassroots sport.

The cricket community has once again demonstrated that is a close-knit family, with players from across the country donating items to be sold.

Lots that are sure to pique the interest of Somerset fans include:

  • A series of player issued and / or match-worn shirts from last summer’s winning Vitality Blast campaign.  Amongst those to donate are Matt Henry, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Tom Abell, Will Smeed, Ben Green and Jack Brooks.
  • A pair of jerseys from the final season of James Hildreth’s sparkling Somerset career.
  • A County Championship shirt from last last summer donated by Sean Dickson.
  • A squad-signed Western Storm shirt belonging to Sophie Luff.
  • A signed Jos Buttler one-day playing shirt from his Somerset days donated by Paul Bird.

The auction is being run by County Cricket Natters, and is being hosted by Match Worn Shirt.

Bids close at 8pm on Sunday 19th May.
