Building work continues apace at the CACG

Visitors to the home of Somerset County Cricket Club can’t help but have noticed that a lot of building work is taking place, so we thought that we would take this opportunity to bring Members and supporters up to date with what is occurring.

In order to ensure that we can effectively integrate and welcome Somerset Women into the CACG,  a good deal of renovation work needs to be carried out to the Andrew Caddick Pavilion, the Marcus Trescothick Pavilion and the Ondaatje Pavilion.

SCCC Operations Director, Sarah Trunks outlines what the changes will mean.

“Following an extensive consultation and planning process, we have been working with LED Architects, the ECB Facilities team and Wrencon Ltd. to make sure that there is a seamless transition into Tier 1 status for the Club,” she explained. “We are dedicated to ensuring that the Somerset Women feel welcome and included, whilst also maintaining the high standard of facilities that the men have enjoyed for a number of years.

“The main difference that Members and supporters will see is that the Commercial Team have relocated to the Marcus Trescothick Pavilion. Therefore, if you would like to purchase Membership or tickets, please note that the Club Reception is now permanently situated in this location and no longer in the Andrew Caddick Pavilion.

The Stragglers Coffee House is being partitioned into two smaller facilities with the Commercial, Finance and People Teams soon moving into a renovated office space next to the reception area. During this transition, it may take our staff longer to answer telephones or reply to emails. Please do bear with us in this regard.

“The works to the Andrew Caddick Pavilion have seen the extension of the gym and the Sports Science & Medicine areas as well as the creation of a home dressing room for Somerset Women within the building.

“Work to the Ondaatje Pavilion will see the Somerset Cricket Foundation relocate into what was the SCCC Shop space, with their current location set to accommodate the new coaching staff who will be joining us. The Changing Rooms within the Indoor School will also be renovated.

“We are also working with Somerset County Sports to potentially enlarge their current shop facility.

“The current building work may mean that there is a slight reduction in parking provision and on occasions access in front of the Andrew Caddick and Ondaatje Pavilions may be blocked, but we will endeavor to make sure that we minimise the impact on those who use our car parks.

“It’s a truly exciting time for the Club and a very fitting way for us to begin preparations for our 150th year.”

We will continue to post regular updates to keep Members and supporters informed about these developments.
