South West Darts Showdown a Huge Success!
The Cooper Associates County Ground, in conjunction with ZH Live Events, hosted the South West Darts Showdown earlier this month and the event was a huge success.
Over 1200 darts fans created an electric atmosphere as they packed into the specially created marquee for the showcase which featured five of the best players in the world.
Two-time PDC World Champion and former World number 1 Gary Anderson, World Number 10 Danny Noppert, Former BDO World Champion Steve Beaton, former PDC Players Championship runner-up Ryan Searle and PDC World Championship quarter finalist Justin “Happy Feet” Hood all took to the oche on the night.
They were also joined by Somerset players James Rew and Liv Barnes for a special challenge.
There was some great audience participation on the night, including a 13-year-old hitting a 180 on stage against Gary Anderson having won the VIP six-dart challenge!
Somerset CCC Commercial Sales Executive and event organiser, Will Hall-Tomkin said: “The evening proved to be a major success, with a strong turnout and an incredible atmosphere throughout.
“It was fantastic to see so many fans join us for such an entertaining night of darts. The atmosphere was brilliant, with supporters singing along and the players delivering an incredible show.”
He added: “Hosting an event of this scale, outside of cricket, marks an important milestone for the venue.
“Staging something like this is a significant step in establishing the Cooper Associates County Ground as a versatile events venue. We welcomed hundreds of new visitors who hadn’t experienced the ground before, which is a really positive sign for the future.”
Will also praised the efforts behind the scenes, highlighting the months of preparation that went into the event.
“To see so much hard work from the team pay off was incredibly rewarding, and we’re hopeful of bringing back an even bigger South West Darts Showdown in the future.”
