SCCC partner with AQUAME to enhance player performance
Somerset County Cricket Club are pleased to be able to announce that we have partnered with AQUAME to enhance hydration monitoring and performance tracking.
AQUAME’s technology will be used by both the Somerset Men and Women players, and the data will be monitored and analysed to improve hydration strategies. This collaboration therefore sets a new standard for hydration management in professional cricket.
The benefits of using AQUAME’s technology include:
- Hydration for Performance & Recovery
- Data-Driven Hydration Planning
- Sports Science & Player Wellness
Hydration for Performance & Recovery
Dehydration affects reaction time, focus, and judgment, which can impact batting, bowling, and fielding decisions under pressure. AQUAME’s real-time hydration tracking ensures players maintain optimal fluid levels throughout the match, reducing the risk of mental fatigue and errors due to dehydration.
Cricket requires high levels of concentration, reflexes, and strategic thinking. Consistent hydration is therefore essential for peak performance.
Proper hydration prevents prolonged dehydration, which can lead to cognitive fatigue and decision-making errors in the field.
Data-Driven Hydration Planning
AQUAME provides personalized hydration insights based on individual player needs which means that coaching staff and the Science & Medicine team can access hydration data to create custom hydration strategies. This will help to reduce fatigue, cramping, and dehydration risks during matches.
Sports Science & Player Wellness
This partnership will enable the Club to integrate advanced hydration technology in order to support player health & wellness.
The partnership ensures data-driven hydration solutions are implemented at all levels.
Regarding the relationship, SCCC Lead S&C Coach, Joe Satt said: “We are very fortunate to be working with AQUAME this year on all things surrounding hydration. Their intuitive bottles provide both players and coaches an opportunity to better understand their water intake requirements, based on their individual needs. This allows us to take a proactive approach to our hydration strategies in an attempt to maximise performance and recovery.
“This tool will be invaluable during the season, and we are excited to work with AQUAME moving forward.”
AQUAME Founder and CEO, Steve Aidun Xie added: “This is an exciting opportunity to work together on tackling hydration in cricket, and we’re proud to explore a partnership that truly puts player health and wellbeing first.
“At AQUAME, hydration is more than just water – it’s about using body metrics and real-time data to support player health, performance, and recovery. This partnership is a powerful step toward helping cricketers stay healthier, perform at their best, and make smarter decisions around hydration.”
