“Our vision is to sustain an environment where everyone – colleagues, volunteers, players, children, fans, customers, partners know Somerset is a place for them. Where they know they have a right to feel and be safe, to have enjoyable and fun experiences, free from abuse, discrimination or harm. Where they are listened to, treated with care and respect in every situation and want to return time and again. Safeguarding and inclusion belong to us all.”

Tom Wilkinson, People Assistant and Recruitment Lead
“My role is to lead fair, inclusive, and safe recruitment processes for all roles across the Club. This includes ensuring safeguarding considerations are embedded throughout recruitment, panel members have the appropriate skills and training, any concerns or gaps are clarified, and all necessary background checks are completed. I also ensure mandatory training remains up to date, helping us maintain a safe environment where everyone feels welcome, valued, and able to thrive.Â
“Alongside recruitment, I lead the Club’s wellbeing initiatives, including regular wellbeing check-ins, Wellness Action Plans and our Wellbeing Focus Group. Creating a culture of psychological safety is a key priority, ensuring our people feel supported, heard and empowered to be themselves at work.”
Sarah Trunks, Director of Venue Operations and Deputy Safeguarding Officer
“Ensuring the Cooper Associates County Ground or other associated venues is a safe and welcoming environment for all is one of our key responsibilities as a Venue Operations team. From my core role as Director of Venue Operations to our match/ event day stewarding team, we all strive to ensure the ground is welcoming and accessible to all who attend whilst proactively challenging behaviour which goes against our values, taking a zero-tolerance stance to any form of poor behaviour to abuse.Â
“As Deputy Safeguarding Officer, I support the wider People team in both promoting and embedding safeguarding throughout our organisation in whichever guise it may take, from our staff to the pathway team through to match or non-match day events.”
