Chad Murrin

I was educated at Blundell’s School in Tiverton, where I played 1st XI cricket with Vic Marks and the late Jeremy Lloyds.  I first watched Somerset at the County Ground in 1971 and have supported the county ever since.  My wife and I have had a flat in Taunton very close to the ground since 2002 and we are SCCC Platinum Members.

After reading law at university, I qualified as a barrister.  I worked for the large financial company 3i Group plc in London for nearly 20 years until 2004.  Since then, I has worked for myself and has been a Non-executive Director of several companies.  My professional experience includes the construction and hotel sectors.

I played club cricket for nearly fifty years and have helped to run several cricket clubs in different volunteer roles, including chair, secretary, treasurer and commercial manager.

I am passionate about SCCC.  I am excited to put myself forward for election to the Board as a Members’ Director.  I would be honoured to represent my fellow Members and ensure that their views are heard.

Jane Hamlin

Jane grew up in Taunton and played cricket socially from a young age. She has been a member of Somerset CCC since 1960 and has witnessed the greatest years of the club from the stands. The Club is very much part of her DNA. She is delighted to be a member and supporter of the Somerset Women’s team.

For most of her career Jane was a primary school teacher, including 21 years as a headteacher, in Somerset primary schools. The safeguarding of the children and staff was a responsibility that she took very seriously, as well as encouraging staff members to develop their skills and efficiency whilst maintaining their wellbeing. Among her many other responsibilities, she developed a strong interest in, and love of, the game of cricket among the boys and girls (and their parents).

On gaining her doctorate she was appointed as a Senior Lecturer in Education at the University of the West of England. Since retiring she has continued to indulge her passion for cricket. She was one of the original commentators for Somerset’s live ball-by-ball radio coverage. No longer playing the game, she is now chair of the trustees and the scorer for local team Wombat CC which is developing a very successful women’s team; as well being scorer for Somerset Visually Impaired CC. Jane is still passionate about cricket and believes that there should be no barriers or obstacles to playing or watching the game.

Geoff Vian

A lifelong Somerset supporter, I care that Somerset is a Member’s Club and will continue to do all I can to ensure that Members’ views are represented on the Board.

I try to keep Members informed of Board decisions by helping to run the Members’ bookstall and attending all Members’ Forums and most matches, home and away; two way communication is paramount.  I have considerable experience of committees, both as chair or member, a working knowledge of the catering trade and, recently, Treasurer of Portishead Lifeboat and a Community Café.

My television career, mainly on cricket coverage, gave me insight into cricket administration both here and overseas and I gained respect throughout the cricketing world.  I’ve put my expertise to use on Somerset’s award-winning Streaming.  I feel that all this experience, together with having frequent conversations with Members, ideally qualifies me to continue as a Member Director.

As a child, I spent many days sitting watching Somerset with my Grandfather.  Now, as a Grandfather myself with a cricket-mad nine year old grandson, I want to play my part in ensuring that there will be successful Somerset cricket sides for him to watch when he reaches my age. Please re-elect me.

Michelle Edwards

I was born in north Wales, grew up in Australia and, since my return to the UK, have lived in Norfolk, Hampshire, Sussex and Kent.  I ended my peripatetic lifestyle when I moved to Taunton in 2018.  Since my arrival all my friends have ensured that I am well educated in Somerset cricket.  I have added to that education with my recent secondment to the board.

I am a lawyer who specializes in risk and compliance.  I consider that this will enable me to ensure that all the Members are considered in club and board decisions.

I can be found around the ground (and in the nearest pubs after the close of play!) – I enjoy talking to members about the cricket and the club, gathering any concerns and suggestions so that I can relay them to the Members Committee of which I am a Member.

I am a lifelong sports fan and in the winter I can be found at a rugby match, either at Bath or Taunton.  At Bath I am also a Matchday Ambassador – meeting and greeting and helping the fans find their way.

I hope I can help all of you too.

I believe that County Cricket in this country is at a crossroads and we should do all we can to safeguard the amount of cricket being played in Somerset and the place that the county has at the heart of cricket in England. As a Member Director I would represent the interests of the membership and ensure that this was clearly communicated with the board.

I was born in Taunton and been an avid supporter of Somerset since as a boy I went to see them beat Australia in 1977. This cemented a desire to play cricket as much as possible, playing school and club cricket in Bath, university cricket and when I started work, club cricket in the West Somerset league.

My career with Lloyds Banking Group in a variety of senior leadership roles has given me board level experience and enhanced planning, investment prioritisation, strategy development and communication skills. Additionally, I am a Governor at Richard Huish College. Having recently retired early I am able to commit the time required in order to support the club to successfully face the challenges/opportunities in the coming years.
