Inclusion

At Somerset County Cricket Club

Our Commitment

Cricket has the power to bring people together, and at Somerset we are determined that everyone can enjoy meaningful, positive and accessible experiences both in cricket and at our home, the Cooper Associates County Ground. We have a clear and enduring commitment: to ensure that everyone feels welcome, valued and respected within our Club, our game and our community.

Cricket in Somerset impacts many thousands of people and the collaboration between Somerset County Cricket Club and Somerset Cricket Foundation is crucial for providing opportunities and access to participation for people across all communities.

Key principles of our approach: our commitment to ensuring we are and remain a safe and welcoming Club for all.

    1. Commitment from the top: with a dedicated Board Lead for Inclusion and a committed CEO and senior executive team, we are well placed to drive this agenda forwards.

    2. Equip and empower our people: Cultural evolution is possible when every person is appropriately equipped, empowered and works together. Everyone is responsible and accountable for inclusion within our organisations and we can only drive sustainable change when this responsibility is consistently upheld by all.

    3. Engage, evaluate and evolve: listening and learning from a range of voices and perspectives: staff, under-represented communities, people with lived experiences and external expertise, is essential to making the right decisions for our people and evolving our inclusive environments

    4. Eliminate barriers: we understand there are barriers which prevent some people having fair access to cricket and our aim is for everyone to have the chance to participate in our wonderful sport in whichever way they prefer.
